CRTC Supports Commack Schools Teachers

A number of years ago, the Executive Board created the “Teacher Incentive Award Program” to further encourage the achievements of teachers who have creativity and inspire learning in their classrooms.  The purpose of this recognition is to let our professionals in the classroom now that their talents, hard work and dedication to their students are appreciated and respected.

This year, again, the Executive Board has selected from a large number of worthy applicants, 4 classroom teachers who have proven records of success in their classrooms. A Mandracchia Sawmill teacher, will use this grant to purchase The Comprehensive Toolkit which will work on Literacy in reading nonfiction materials.  This skill is very important for our students to master so they can be successful.

A Commack Middle School teacher, will use this grant to purchase the Breakout EDU Kit.  These materials that will help her students gain experience in critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity. The equipment will also be used to study the biodiversity of the Commack Middle School campus including abiotic {nonliving} factors.  This will also help support her students prepare for the Regents Living Environment Standards.

The final grant went to two teachers from Commack Middle School.  They will use the grant to purchase materials to build a portable Augmented Reality Sandbox.  This will allow all students in the Middle School to perform various activities like creating topography models.
